Welcome to the Megan Jones School of Performing Arts (“MJSPA”) privacy policy.
MJSPA respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you register with MJSPA and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.
What information does MJSPA collect about you?
Personal data, or personal information means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data). We any collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:
- identity information includes [first name, maiden name, last name, username, date of birth and gender];
- contact information: includes [billing address, email address and telephone numbers];
- Transaction information: includes [details about payments to and from you and other details of the courses/classes you have signed of have signed your child up to]; and
- Any medical information you choose to provide us with regarding your child when you register.
We also collect website usage information using cookies. Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. This is used to track visitor use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity. For further information visit www.aboutcookies.org. You can set your browser not to accept cookies and the above websites tell you how to remove cookies from your browser. However, in a few cases some of our website features may not function as a result.
How will MJSPA use the information about you?
Under data protection laws there are a number of lawful reasons that we can use (or ‘process’) your personal information. One of those is called ‘Legitimate Interests’. Broadly speaking Legitimate Interests means that we can process your personal information if we have a genuine and legitimate reason and we are not harming any of your rights and interests.
When you provide your personal details to us we only use that information for our legitimate business interests in carrying out our work and providing safe classes for you and your child and where we need to comply with a legal obligations and only where use of your personal data is allowed by law.
We only collect information about you to communicate with you, manage your account, comply with Child Protection Legislation to ensure your child’s health and safety whilst they are with us and where we need to comply with any other legal obligations. We will not disclose any information to any company outside of MJSPA unless it is necessary to do so to provide our services or we are required to do so by law.
We will send you important information every now and then via our email Newsletter to keep you up to date with the things that you need to know. This could be changes to our policies, timetable, venues, information about classes, watching week, festivals, performances, and workshops that the school is organising or taking part in, or other important messages for our parents.
If we need to use your personal data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and we will explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.
Please note that we may process your personal data without your knowledge or consent, in compliance with the above rules, where this is required or permitted by law.
Photography & Marketing
All photography that we use will be with your explicit consent, or consent of a parent/guardian. We will ask for this consent when you fill out our registration form and enrol with MJSPA.
We will only use your information for marketing activity if you have opted in during registration. We will use this to send you additional promotional information such as offers and other marketing communications.
We do not share your information with companies outside of MJSPA for marketing purposes.
The Policy & Data Removal
This privacy policy only applies to our own website so when you follow a link from our site to another website you should read their own privacy policies.
We want to make sure that your personal information is up to date and kept only for as long as is necessary. We also want to make sure that your child’s information, particularly any medical needs are accurate and up to date. You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. You may ask us to correct or remove information. If you would like a copy of some or all your personal information, or request that we correct or delete your information please email us at the following address – megan@mjspa.co.uk.
Deleting your information will mean that you and your child will no longer be able to attend the school.
We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements. We may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.
